Why I Started Blogging
Here’s a little story on how I came to the realization that I wanted to start blogging! It wasn’t something I thought about lightly and it wasn’t something I jumped into. This has been years in the works!
Now I know what you’re probably thinking… “Another girl trying to make her career blogging.” Whereas I would LOVE this to be my career I do already have a career that I love and enjoy. This is just something I feel called to try and give my best shot. I don’t want to ever wonder “What if.’
Like I said this has been years in the works, I have wanted to start blogging and sharing lifestyle tips and tricks for awhile and finally this year I said I was going to stop thinking about and just do it!! Rachel Hollis said it best> “When you really want something, you will find a way. When you don’t really want something, you’ll find an excuse.”
Well I’m done making excuses! I’m done worrying that I might fail. Blogging is intimidating, a lot of hard work and its scary! New things are always scary! But I know that if I never try I’ll always have regrets.
So here’s my “why” why I’m blogging, why I decided the world needed a “not your average fashion blogger” like me and why I think my blog will be different and more relatable!
Recently I created a style page on Instagram and started following any and every style blogger, fashion influencer, and beauty goo-roo I could find! I started looking into what they were selling, what brands they were buying from, and their sizing! I came to find that the majority of fashion bloggers are under 5’5” weigh close to 120 pounds, and wear an XS/S in most clothes. And they all buy clothes and promote clothes from the same brands.
As someone who is 5’10”, around 160 pounds, and blessed in the chest, imagine my frustration following all of these people that are all the same petite size, promoting the exact same thing from the same places, and then getting discouraged when I’d buy something and it looked nothing like it did on them!
But it’s not just fashion bloggers and influencers where I’m seeing the same body image for every item of clothing. Its almost all brands and boutiques found on the internet. How realistic is that? I want this blog to show women and girls everywhere that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. These girls on Instagram are beautiful! And it can be so discouraging to buy something they recommend and feel like “If only I looked like them then this would look good.” I want to speak for the girls that don’t fit the ideal body image that seems to be all over the internet these days.
I want to showcase clothes and brands that look good on ALL body types, that look just as good in a large as it does in a small. I want tall girls, short girls, girls with curves, girls with long legs, etc. to see that they should celebrate their bodies and feel good about themselves! I have learned to love my body for what it can do instead of hating it for what it can’t do. Through this blog I hope we can all embrace our bodies, celebrate how we were created, and uplift other women the same way!
